Hi! My name is Emily, and first and foremost, I would like to tell you a little bit about me and my story, and how a British Columbia girl ended up in Prince Edward Island, living in a camper (for the last 3 years) and starting a homestead. Buckle up and lets dive in!
As I said before, my name is Emily, Im a 32 year old mom of 1. My husband and I have been married for 12 years, and we have finally been able to start a homestead (which has been a dream of ours for the 13 years we have been together). So lets address the elephant in the room. How did a family from Northern BC end up in PEI? And if you’ve ever been to both, you know its like comparing apples to oranges. Well its a long story really, but I’ll make it short, My family lives here, and during COVID things got crazy, people lost jobs, and we ended up here. Why not right?
Next question you probably have, You live in a camper? In Canadian winters? The answer is, yes. We have lived in a camper (or as my husband calls it, a holiday trailer) for 3 years now. Me, my husband, and our 2 dogs. Why you ask? Well, for a few reasons. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but the economy in Canada is kind of a mess right now. The housing market is ridiculous, and to be completely blunt and transparent. We didn’t have that kind of money for a down payment. We also knew that we wanted a farm, big or small. So we knew it was going to take some time to be able to do that.
Ok, Ok, so why start a blog now??? Im so glad you asked. We recently got 5 acres of property, and a VERY old, very run down mobile home to put on it. WE HAVE A HOUSE!! I want to share this transformation of our new property, and Renos of the house. I have some huge ideas and goals (not dreams anymore) things I want to do, things I want to sell, and be who I always knew I was. I’m a big essential oil user, I diffuse, roll, and massage oils almost daily… why not make my own? You can do that right? Well you can! And I have the scary science lab to do it! I love everything natural, so we are slowly switching to natural soaps, cleaning products and lotions (which I am making myself) I also have a love for gardens and the grocery store stresses me out. The garden I’m planning for next year is a big one, enough food to feed our family for a year!
(Can you believe these 2 pictures are the same spot?!?)
Theres so much more I plan.. but I can’t tell you everything all at once right? Let’s save some for next time. So lets recap, 32 year old crazy chicken lady, about to create a legacy! That has a ring to it!
(throw back to 2022 when we first bought our holiday trailer, and put it on our temporary spot)
